Odyssey's FIRST Boat Diver Course - Porthysgaden
This was the first PADI Boat Diver course we had organised and without exception, the course structure went entirely to plan and incorporated 2 superb dives from what would very conservatively be described as 'an impressive RIB'..!
Great fun and very informative.
With the course over, we buddy'd up and enjoyed a very exciting drift dive. Literally 'flying' across the English seabed 26m down, at around 5mph. Taking in Dogfish in excess of 6ft, dozens of enormous Scallops, an actual 'carpet' of Starfish and without any exaggeration, the biggest 'Edible Crab' I (for one) have ever seen.. However, quite the opposite of 'edible', as we all clung to the rock like human flags to give the beast a good coat of looking at and with its pincers on show like the folded arms of a bouncer, it was more like a large helping of AL and Mark with a side order of John... We let go and flew onwards, "burgers for tea tonight lads"..!
Not able to stand any more fun, it was back to Penrallt Coastal Campsite to fire up (enter Arch Bishop Blaze) the BBQ and get those burgers on. Then reflect on the days events, while the sun went down, with Kenny Rodgers in the background (no Christian, that's not the comedian from Jackass)..
More diving in the bay Sunday morning (after the Welsh wind and rain had tested our tents through the night), followed by another 1st for the weekend. As Julie reached her 100th dive, going against Odyssey tradition of doing the 100th wearing very little (or nothing), she chose an advanced dive (where a few previous Odyssey 100ths had been notched up) and loved it..!
