Suunto D9
Unless your wanting to use tri-mix this will do everything you need. It’s simple to use it has 3 gas switches from 21 -100% and does deco. I use mine on air dives to 60m+ its nice and easy to use. Even with 5mm thick kevlar coated gloves on in the middle of winter hanging at deco stops you can use the buttons easily. Something I was initially worried about when I got it. The face is small but all the info is clear and easy to read. I would get the transmitter if you can but as anything electrical it has the potential to fail, I also have a small analogue gauge for back up but do like to have the transmitter working as all the info is then in one spot so your not trying to read two gauges.
I particularly like the fact that you can use it as a normal watch for day to day stuff unlike the bigger dive computers. Not sure on the compass it’s a fancy bit of kit but I haven’t found it overly practical if doing anything that requires a lot of compass work will take a separate one in with me. But its still cool to show off with.
Would I change ? as am into tec, tri-mix is next so the new HelO2 is on the cards but will probably keep the D9 as well for teaching / normal air diving and as a back up.
Issues, non really the strap broke (just) but I`v had it since they first came out and its done 100`s of dives and like the rest of my kit has a very hard life. When I first got it there was a software glitch on depth but Suunto fixed it very quickly no issues since then. As with any new kit try it, make sure it works and you know how to use it before you go off and do something serious.
