Health and Safety Policy

Odyssey Dive Centre Limited

First Edition
- Odyssey Dive Centre Limited (“Odyssey”) is committed to meeting its obligations under the:
- Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974; and
- Diving At Work Regulations 1997; and
- Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999; and
- Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005; and
- Associated Legislation and common law.
- To achieve these objectives the Directors of Odyssey will have the main responsibility for all health and safety matters arising out of and in the course of Odyssey business including its business as a Diving Contractor under the Diving at Work Regulations 1997.
- To comply with both statutory and common law duties, Odyssey has arranged insurance against liability for death, personal injury and/or disease suffered by any of its employees and/or volunteer staff (arising out of and in the course of their employment or staffing) and/or customers and/or members of the public if caused by negligence and/or breach of statutory duty on the part of Odyssey.
- For their part, employees, volunteers and customers, agree contractually to comply with their individual duties under the relevant health and safety legislation and common law and other contractual provisions in force from time to time and will co-operate with Odyssey, its staff and Directors to enable it to carry out its obligations under the law. Failure to comply on the part of any employee and/or volunteer staff member and/or customer may lead to dismissal and/or exclusion from any Odyssey activity.
- In addition to its statutory duty to provide an Accident Book, Odyssey has instituted a system for reporting accidents, diseases and dangerous occurrences to the Health and Safety Executive under the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995.
- In order to meet its obligations to the general public and all persons on Odyssey’s premises, Odyssey will pay strict attention to its duties under the Occupiers Liability Acts of 1957 and 1984.
- This policy has been prepared in compliance with section 2(3) of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 and is binding on all Directors, managers, employees, volunteer staff and customers of Odyssey and those under the control and supervision of Odyssey. All visitors and members of the general public are asked to respect this policy, sight and/or a copy of which will be made available on request.
