DAY TRIPS
HARD HAT & RECOMPRESSION CHAMBER COURSE - Sunday 31st October 2010
Based at York Diver Training College, this course is extremely popular. Our last visit booked out literallly days after release by email and with good reason! Its an awesome day - a learning experience and a really good laugh combined. There are two main halves to the day:
The first is the Hard Hat dive, in which you get to try out a surface air fed 6-bolt Siebe 'Brass' hat. You'll learn a little of the history of the commercial dive helmet before getting in there yourself. It all takes place in the safety of the College's own 6m pool tank, with viewing windows and lift bag excersises to keep you busy. For those returning for a second innings on the course, there is the option to try one of the modern commerical helmets instead of the historical ones (own drysuit and previous notification to Odyssey or the College is required)
The second is a light bit of theory before you clamber in and take a dry dive to the equivalent of 50m. Feel nitrogen narcosis in a safe environment and wonder why you can't whistle after 30m... but why everyone insists on trying... and you can even bring your dive computers and log books to count the chamber dive.
The cost of the day is £50 which includes a hearty two course meal at the college. Book on now to secure your place!
